The WNY Southtowns Scenic Byway Nomination Study

Welcome to the website of the WNY Southtowns Scenic Byway Nomination Study. The New York State Scenic Byways Program is administered by the New York State Department of Transportation. This Nomination Study seeks the designation of Western New York's first Scenic Byway. The study, a work in progress, was initiated by the WNY Southtowns Scenic Byway Steering Committee, a group of citizens from the byway communities. The committee is directing the preparation of the Nomination Study by the Urban Design Project of the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo.

Located in the beautiful "Southtowns" of Erie County; the proposed byway is a project grown out of the community's interest in protecting their natural environment and cultural heritage while at the same time providing ways to expand and reinforce their economies. The route travels through the townships of Orchard Park, Boston, Concord, Colden and Aurora, the three villages of Orchard Park, Springville and East Aurora and several rural hamlets including the hamlets of Boston and Colden.
